DOP Peras de Rincón de Soto

The pears from Rincón de Soto were granted recognition as a Protected Designation of Origin in 2002 —the first such fruit to earn this distinction. The PDO is awarded by the European Union and identifies the highest level at which a foodstuff can be linked with its territory, requiring both growing and processing to be carried out within the designated area.

The PDO guarantees the quality and origin of the pears and that they are subjected to the strict controls established by accredited entities. Rincón de Soto Pears are sold packaged, bearing the “Peras de Rincón de Soto” label, which may only be used for the pears from this Designation of Origin.
