DOP Peras de Rincón de Soto

The Peras de Rincón de Soto Protected Designation of Origin covers the production of pears in the municipalities of Rincón de Soto, Aldeanueva de Ebro, Alfaro and Calahorra, in the eastern part of La Rioja.

The unique characteristics of the Rincón de Soto Pears are owed to the land where they are grown —terraces on the banks of the Ebro, Cidacos and Alhama rivers, flat areas that are well ventilated, deep, humid, permeable, and healthy, without lime or silicon. Mists appear often in the morning, which helps the russeting process, highly-appreciated in this fruit.
